about brainmate
Built so the details don’t slip.
brainmate exists because the most important system in any small business — the owner’s memory — was the only one nobody had built software for.
Why it was founded
We spend our days building software for people who run real businesses — roofers, excavators, agencies, owners with a phone in one hand and a job site in front of them. The same problem showed up everywhere: the business lived in the owner’s head. People, promises, budgets, the reason a decision got made — scattered across texts, notebooks, and memory. Every new tool promised to help and mostly added one more place for things to slip.
Then AI got genuinely good — but the chatbots everyone tried had no memory. You could have a remarkable conversation, close the tab, and it forgot your business existed. The unlock wasn’t a smarter model. It was memory: an assistant that asks what it doesn’t know, writes it down where you can see it, and never makes you repeat yourself.
So we built brainmate — a private second brain that gets your business, because it asked.
Part of Venato
brainmate is built by Venato, a Pittsburgh company founded in 2026 that builds operating systems for the industries that build the real world — starting with the trades. Venato was started on a simple belief: business owners shouldn’t have to fight disconnected systems and unnecessary complexity just to grow something meaningful.
brainmate is that belief, distilled. Where Venato’s platforms run the operations of specific industries, brainmate is for every busy owner: one place that remembers the people, projects, and decisions your business runs on. Same team, same standard — software that feels staffed, not vendored.
What we believe
Your knowledge belongs to you. Every note is a plain Markdown file you can export anytime. Your business's memory is yours — not ours.
Your data is never training material. Private vault, encryption in transit and at rest, and no training on your data. Ever.
AI should save real time. The bar is whether it removes work from your week — not whether it demos well.
Simple is the feature. One login, one assistant that knows your business. No API keys, no prompt engineering — that's our job, not yours.
